Abstract

Intercondylar fracture of the femur is a fracture between the medial and lateral condyle. Classification of distal femur fractures includes extra-articular, intra-articular, and bicondylar intra-articular. The main mechanism of intercondylar fracture is a fall into a flexed knee. Early history and physical examination aim to find out the mechanism and timing of the injury. Radiological examination was performed thoroughly including the proximal and distal joints of the knee and hip. Management consists of non-operative and surgical which is chosen based on the fracture type, medical conditions, surgeon’s preferences, and resources. Hence, the purpose of this review was to update the current management of fracture intercondylar of the femur.
